March 2013
Operation Over Lord saw the Imperial Navy and Air Force join in with war game scenarios with the armed forces and navies of its allies.Enacted each year in March, the tactics and skills learned are crucial to the development of a cost-effective military. For the first time the new TYPE 46 Destroyers were put to the test considerably out manoeuvring and out performing the combined strength of the vessels and aircraft taking part.
Day 5 of the operation saw HIMS Crown Prince and Prince Eugene temporarily withdrawn from the games so as to allow other navies to rethink tactics against them. Several scenarios were then played out against the two ships when reintroduced, all of which saw Crown Prince and Prince Eugene rout the forces in a few short hours.
Operation Over Lord highlighted the need for some sort of air-craft carrier to join the combined fleets in the event of an overseas war, primarily to transport and effectively deliver minifigarian aid from a safe distance offshore to civilians who would be in need after a military campaign against a government, terrorist organisation or invasion from other international bodies.
